Schools with the longest active NCAA baseball tournament streaks

UCLA runs the table as No. 1 in final baseball Power 10 rankings

There’s always one common goal that reigns supreme throughout every college baseball program: winning a national championship.

But, there’s a multitude of steps that go into accomplishing the momentous feat.

It begins with making the Field of 64 and hearing their school’s name called on Selection Sunday, which is easier said than done.

Just 13 teams entered the 2026 season with five or more consecutive years of making the NCAA tournament — five over 10 years. Here’s a look at which schools have the longest active streaks for regional appearances.

Vanderbilt — 19

Dansby Swanson Vanderbilt

The Commodores have been one of the most well-known college baseball programs in the 21st century, thanks to coach Tim Corbin and its endless treasure trove of star players, leading to 19 straight tournament appearances.

Think of regulars at a restaurant, known on a first name basis by waiters and owners. That’s Vanderbilt and the NCAA tournament.

The streak began in 2006, with a team that featured future 2007 MLB No. 1 first overall pick David Price. The Commodores made it to the regional final, falling to Georgia Tech.

The 2010s was the time to be in Nashville, or at least follow Vandy’s run. They climbed to the mountaintop and won the Men’s College World Series in 2014 and 2019. And they didn’t stop there, reaching the MCWS in 2011 and finishing as national runners-up in 2015 and 2021. Vanderbilt also made four other super regional appearances (‘10, ‘13, ‘17 and ‘18).

Vanderbilt hasn’t made it past the regionals since its championship season in 2019, most recently falling short of the 2025 regional final as the No. 1 national seed.

Florida — 17

There’s been just one team that has more MCWS showings than Vanderbilt since 2010, and it’s Florida. The Gators have made the NCAA tournament 17 straight seasons and made the trip to Omaha nine of those times.

Those are the kind of odds that make fans buy their plane tickets before regionals even start.

Florida didn’t make the tournament for two straight seasons after losing in the 2005 MCWS championship series to Texas, but it started its streak in 2008. The Gators went to the MCWS in three straight seasons from 2010-12 and four consecutive seasons a few years later between 2015-18. The Gators won it all in 2017.

They didn’t make it past regionals after 2018 until, coincidentally, making back-to-back MCWS appearances in 2023 and 2024.

OMAHA REGULARS: Teams with the most appearances in the Men's College World Series

LSU — 13

LSU baseball

There’s no bigger name in college baseball recently than LSU, who’ve hoisted the national championship twice in the last three seasons.

The Tigers’ run began in 2012, three years after winning it all in 2009 to tie Texas for the second-most national championships by any program.

And for the first 10 years of the streak, LSU battled, scratched and clawed its way through the NCAA tournament, but wasn’t able to bring home the hardware to Baton Rouge. The Tigers made three MCWS appearances, including a national runners-up finish in 2017 to Florida, and four other super regional endings (‘12, ‘16, ‘19, ‘21).

The climax hit in 2023, winning their seventh national championship in coach Jay Johnson’s second year. The eighth came in 2025, stamping Johnson as the fastest coach in college baseball history to win multiple national titles at one school.

Oklahoma State — 12

Oklahoma State has made just one MCWS appearance since the turn of the century, but have consistently been a name to watch come NCAA tournament time.

The Cowboys have reached five regional finals (‘13, ‘18, ’22, ‘24 and ‘25) and two super regionals in 2014 and 2019 after the streak’s start in 2013. The Big 12 dominated the 2016 MCWS participant field, sending the most representatives with three, including OSU. They beat UC Santa Barbara and Arizona in the first and second rounds, but fell to the Wildcats twice in the semifinals.

Although they haven’t made it out of the regional round since 2019, the 12 trips to postseason play is an incredible talking point to mention to anyone interested in the program.

Dallas Baptist — 11

Dallas Baptist baseball

The Patriots joined the Missouri Valley Conference in 2014 and moved to Conference USA in 2023.

And no matter where it has called home, Dallas Baptist has reached the NCAA tournament every year since 2014.

Spearheaded by longtime coach Dan Heefner, DBU has made the regional final six out of the 11 years (2015-2019, 2023) and has hosted one regional in 2015. The program's best appearance during the run was reaching the super regionals in 2021.

They are still searching for their first MCWS berth, though.

Here’s a look at every regional appearances streak five years or longer:

School Length of Streak Start year
Vanderbilt 19 2006
Florida 17 2008
LSU 13 2012
Oklahoma State 12 2013
Dallas Baptist 11 2014
Southern Miss 9 2016
Arkansas 8 2017
North Carolina 8 2017
Oregon State 8 2017
East Carolina 7 2018
Tennessee 6 2019
Arizona 5 2021
Oregon 5 2021
Texas 5 2021

Honorable mentions: Florida State & Miami (44 years)

Miami (FL) (Last year of streak: 2016)

The Hurricanes defined what consistency means in college baseball, making the Field of 64 for 44 consecutive seasons from 1973 to 2016.

It was the longest streak in any sport in NCAA history.

They won four national championships in the process (‘82, ‘85, ‘99 and ‘01) and finished as national runner-ups in 1974 and 1996. The cherry on top is the 25 MCWS appearances Miami has under its belt with 25, the second-most amongst all schools, achieved between three different head coaches.

The Hurricanes last trip to Omaha was in 2016.

Florida State (Last year of streak: 2022)

Florida State baseball

The Mike Martin Sr. era was magical in Tallahassee, reaching the NCAA tournament nearly every season he was on the coaching staff.

The streak began in 1978, three years after he became an assistant coach (1975), and continued for three seasons following his retirement in 2019, where his son Mike Martin Jr. took over.

Throughout the 44-year run, Florida State made the MCWS 19 times and still holds the record for most super regionals hosted by any school. It tied Miami for the longest streak in college baseball in 2022, but was unable to break it, missing the tournament in 2023.

They bounced back in 2024, though, reaching their 24th ever MCWS, the third-most by any program.
