Every Nuttycombe Invitational champion that has won the NCAA cross country title in the same year

One premier invitational in collegiate cross country, the Nuttycombe Invitational, has a strong correlation to the eventual winners of the DI men's and women's cross country championships. 10 of the last 22 DI cross-country champions (excluding the pandemic-altered 2020 season) have won "The Nutty."

Most recently, the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational ran on Friday, Sept. 17, 2025, at Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course where two races per gender took place. The women's and men's "B" races ran first. The women's and men's "A" races started after the "B" races concluded and were the final events of the Invitational.

The 2025 DI women’s champion, NC State, is the most recent program to achieve the feat. The 2024 DI men’s champion, BYU, is the most recent men's program to achieve the feat, winning the invitational hosted by Wisconsin at Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course and later winning the national title on the same course.
